Meeting Micah

We were so happy to see our old neighbors and friends Brian, Monica and Lilly tonight! They came up for a quick visit to meet Micah and to bring us a very yummy dinner!

Lilly is growing like a weed and is absolutely beautiful! Noah thought so too... once he decided to stop playing shy he stole a goodbye kiss! Check out these beautiful babies!!!

What's in a Name?

Micah Reilly Murphy

Micah is a biblical name which means "Who is like God."
Micah was a prophet who's ministry likely extended from 735-700 B.C. Micah's purpose in writing was to show Judah that a necessary product of her covenant relationship to God was to be justice and holiness. His words of hope gave them new heart to live as God's people in a darkened world. Micah's writings are found in the Old Testament.

Reilly is an Irish/Gaelic name that means "Daring."

Our First Company

Today our good friends from Noah's playgroup came to visit us and meet Micah. The kids were curious but gentle with Micah and Noah was so excited t have his friends to play with!

I was grateful to see my 'mommy friends' and to have them to lean on. They are an amazing group of Christian women that have become fast friends and I feel blessed that we have stayed friends despite our recent move.

Thanks for making the trip and for the meals!!!

Missing Amber

My niece Amber generously agreed to come and stay with us for awhile to help out with Noah during Micah's birth. We are so blessed that she was with us during this very special time for our family - it was wonderful to have a member of our extended family here with us in a new town!

Amber arrived on July 16th and quickly became Noah's best friend building countless towers out of Lego's, drawing Elmo faces dozens of times a day and just keeping up with our very energetic little man! Noah nicknamed Amber "Ham-ber" (even though he can say Amber perfectly) and loved spending every minute with her!

Jeff was able to get Amber out one night to explore a little of Austin and they were able to swing by the State Capitol, check out the Congress Avenue Bridge (unfortunately the bats didn't fly), and see a little of Austin's nightlife. I think Amber was a little surprised at how different Austin is from what most people think of when you say Texas!

Having Amber here was wonderful - and we were all so sad to see her head home on July 26th. Noah still wanders around asking for 'Ham-ber' and knocks on her bedroom door. I miss my CSI-Miami watching partner... We can't wait to have you back soon!

Micah's 1st Doctor Visit

On Monday July 23rd Micah had his first office visit with Dr. Brown.

Micah's weight was still dropping a bit and 3 days after birth he had lost a full pound and weighed in at 8 pounds 3 oz. This wasn't too concerning since my milk had just started coming in and Micah is otherwise in great health.

We left Dr. Brown's office and headed off to a lactation consultant visit to correct some nursing issues. Next visit will be at 2 weeks of age!

Coming Home!

Sunday July 22nd - We're Home!

What a busy day! This morning Micah was circumcised by Dr. Phillips and then we were released from the hospital by early afternoon. Micah was actually too big for his coming home outfit (see pic below) but he still looked adorable!

We are so excited to be home with Jeff, Noah and Amber! Micah had a special gift for his big brother - an Elmo guitar! Noah hasn't put it down since and loves to play along to Joe McDermott's song "Air Guitar."
